First they were test marketing cheese sticks that the company is looking to roll out in early 2016 and now it looks like McDonald’s is looking to add mac & cheese to their menu. Select McDonald’s locations in Cleveland, Ohio are now offering mac & cheese as either a Happy Meal entree or ordered a la carte for $1.75. It appears that their mac & cheese, at least for the time being, is a limited-time offering. Whether or not McDonald’s plans to release their mac & cheese nation wide is unclear but what is clear is how desperate McDonald’s is in trying to win over customers.
It’s going to take a lot more than offering a staple in comfort food for the company to win back customers. In the last two years the company streamlined their menu while at the same time continuing to raise prices on their products. All the while the overall quality of their products, at least in my opinion, has been lacking.
I’ve said this before in a previous article so I’ll say it again, McDonald’s needs to put more focus on improving the quality of their current menu items and quality of service before they considering adding a menu item that will do little to endear them to customers.
