Lacking Motivation? Let’s Get Back On Track!

What do you do when your level of motivation is lacking somewhat, as well as your self esteem? What do you do to regain the motivation needed to move on with your plans and pursue your networking endeavors?

If these are questions you’ve asked yourself, then join the club. We’ve all been there at some point and some of us repeatedly so! As we all know, long-term motivation comes from within – no one can motivate you but yourself. So, that begs the question: As a business person, how do you motivate yourself when your motivation is low?

Here are a few of the things that have helped me in the past, and will hopefully resonate with you as well:

1. Minimize your contact with negative people
Keep clear of people that enjoy complaining – and have made it a full time job, while you are trying to get your mojo back.

2. Spend time with people that refuel your energy
Hang out with people who make you want to “do” and “be” better. Set some meetings with them or go to business events together – anything that puts positive people around you.

3. Read, listen and/or watch positive things
Surround yourself with some things you love to be influenced by. Let that in to your life as much as possible.

4. Create a to-do list
Take that list you’ve created and tackle some of that list daily. If you do this you will be amazed at how much you can get accomplished. The more you accomplish, the better you will feel!

5. Let your to-do list be driven by short term goals
Prioritize, prioritize, prioritize! What would you like to achieve in the next week or — at most — next month, that inspires you to act today? A small “win” can be very motivating.
