How to Find the Best Wedding Dress for Your Body Type
0

What I’m about to say is either going to be good news or bad news, depending on how you look at it: There’s no secret formula to finding the best wedding dress for your body type. The simple truth is that you can treat your expedition like any well-oiled shopping trip, which essentially means focusing on styling and sticking to what you already know works for you.

The dress you choose should highlight your best features, whether it be your arms, your curves, or your height. If you think of going into the bridal boutique with the same mindset you do when you hop into a department store to get an everyday dress, you won’t only feel more relaxed, but you’ll also emerge with the dress you want. Sounds like a pretty good outcome, no?

To help you get started, here’s a quick link to David’s Bridal’s Figure Flattery 101 which will break down how to find the best dress for your body type, no matter what your shape.

In case you’re still feeling a little frazzled, here are a few more tips:

IF YOU HAVE A LARGER BUST…

Try: A scooped neckline — something that will allude to your décolletage, but won’t reveal too much either.

IF YOU’RE PLUS-SIZED…

Try: An empire waist dress. Make sure the waist seam hits right under the bust and avoid any (and all) pleating on the skirt.

IF YOU’RE PETITE…

Try: A body-skimming silhouette. (And if you’re feeling a bit non-traditionalist, you could even go the off-white jumpsuit route, which would draw into the long pant shape.)

IF YOU’RE TALL…

Try: A column dress, a silk bias-cut dress, or even a drape-front number would look great.

Good luck and HAPPY HUNTING!
