In an effort to continue to grow and take over our digital lives, Facebook is now expanding its Live Video feature to us non celebrity types. Originally this feature was only available to celebrities and verified pages. However, starting today, users in the US will be able to enjoy this amazing new feature.
Live Video is essentially Facebooks answer to Periscope or Twitch. Live Video allows you to broadcast live video to a number of your friends simultaneously. In the midst of your stream, you will receive status updates of your stream like comments, number of viewers, and which friends are on watching you. Once your stream is completed, you will then have the opportunity to place it on your timeline for viewing at another time.
How do you start a stream?
It is pretty simple honestly. Here are the instructions:
To share live video, tap on Update Status and then select the Live Video icon. You can write a quick description and choose the audience that you want to share with before going live. During your broadcast, you’ll see the number of live viewers, the names of friends who are tuning in and a real-time stream of comments. When you end your broadcast, it will be saved on your Timeline like any other video, which you can then delete or keep for your friends to watch later. Facebook
Currently, this feature is only available to iPhone users in the US, but will be available worldwide and for Android users soon. Try it out today and stream anything from a party, to your cat being mortified by a cucumber!
